In December of 2022, The Decena Foundation held our first Raffle for a Cause. Led by volunteers JR Acorda and Darwin Campos, the raffle was set up for the purpose of helping struggling families in the Metro Manila, Visayas and Mindanao regions of The Philippines. Twenty-nine fortunate people received prizes like cash, groceries, appliances, etc. — with a television as the grand prize.
Tickets cost just 50 Philippine Pesos (1 US Dollar) each — a small amount that definitely went a long way! In total, the raffle raised more than 126,000 Philippine Pesos (2300 US Dollars). The raffle’s proceeds were able to help feed 200 children.
“The Decena Foundation was founded with the goal of bringing hope to families and transforming lives in the poverty-ridden places of the Philippines.” Says Pepito “JR” Decena, founder and executive director of the Decena Foundation. “With the help of our donors in the Philippines and in the United States, our first Raffle for a Cause was definitely a success! The whole Decena Foundation would like to thank everyone from our volunteers to our sponsors, and those who bought tickets. Without all of you, this event would not have made such an incredible difference.”
